Levi Norwood

I'm in the process of trying to break down each of the current each of the current Penn State commits for 2010. I couldn't think of a better place to start than Levi Norwood.  Norwood is probably the least known and hyped recruit that Penn State has received a verbal pledge from this year. If I have learned anything in the last few years, its not to doubt the Norwood family. Of course, Brian Norwood was the DB coach at PSU before heading down to Baylor to be the Defensive Coordinator. Jordan Norwood came to the Lions with even less hype than Levi. He turned out to be one of the top-4 all time leading receivers in Penn State history. Gabe Norwood, brother of Jordan and Levi, was part of the Cinderella George Mason Final Four basketball team. Like I said, I will not underestimate another Norwood.

Levi sat out the 2008 season after transferring from State College to Midway in Waco, Texas. Levi brings good size (6'2" 170 lbs) and speed to the wide receiver position. In the small amount of highlights that are out on Norwood, he shows the hands that are becoming famous with the family name. So far this season, Levi has hauled in 22 catches for 350 yds and 3 touchdowns in five games on a team that focuses primarily on the run. He's also returned 10 punts for 170 yds and a touchdown. Impressively, he's doing this in his first year on a 4A team in the center of the High school football Mecca of the world. I, for one, think Levi's star is on the rise.
