Penn State vs Illinois

In the second half of today's game the offense we all expected to see all year showed up. The guards pulled beautifully and the running backs ripped huge chunks of yards. I think the biggest change today was takings the chains off of Clark's legs. It seemed that once Clark ripped off a few long runs the rest of the offense clicked. The threat of him running opened up the holes that so far this season had been closed.

Offensive star of the day: Stephfon Green, Green hit the holes hard today and his burst once he got to the second level is something we haven't seen since LJ was wearing blue and white.

Defensive star: Jack Crawford, Gentlemen Jack didn't blow up the stat sheet today but he created consistent pressure on Juice Williams today and came up big when it counted.

Freshmen watch: Stephon Morris continues to see plying time as a true freshman and continues to impress. It's becoming clear that he is just too good to keep off the field. He's the kind of player that just seems to always e around the football. One thing is for sure, he's not afraid of contact. Sean Stanley made the most of his opportunity today, stripping the ball out of Williams hand from behind, as he tried to complete a pass. Many speculated that Stanley, who was close to 250 lbs in high school, would be red shirted and moved to the defensive line. I think its safe to say that I'll trust Larry Johnson on this one, at 230 lbs, Stanley is already making his presence felt.

Rap-up: I think the offensive line finally got it together today, and I'm hoping that continues. I've said all along that the talent is there, this team just needs to get some playing time together. Next week Eastern Illinois comes to town for what should be another snoozer before the Lions host Minnesota.
