Ryan's PA Top 10 for 2010

Listed below are my Top 10 PA football recruits for the 2010.

1. Sharrif Floyd (George Washington HS, Philadelphia, PA) - Floyd is a dominating presence on the inside and has unlimited potential to get better as he has merely scratched the surface.  Floyd is explosive off the ball and has prototypical DT size at 6-2 310+ lbs. He will need to improve his technique and moves at the next level as most players of his caliber do, since their size and strength don't always require great technique in high school.

2. Mike Hull (Canon-Mcmillan HS, Canonsburg, PA) - Hull is your classic Western PA backer, always around the ball and hits like a truck. Hull is a technically sound tackler and is comfortable dropping back into coverage. A Penn State commit, Hull will fall nicely in line following the great western PA Line Backer U tradition. Hull reminds me most of Sean Lee. The only thing this young LB is lacking right now is size.

3. PJ Jones (Sto_Rox HS, Mc kees Rocks HS) - When I watch tape of Jones the first thing that jumps out at me is his arm strength. Jones has a live arm and can heave the ball a mile. The second thing that comes to mind is Donavon McNabb. Jones has prototypical size for a QB, at 6'3'' 225. His throws are on time and accurate allowing his receivers to gain YAC. Jones's mechanics get sloppy at times and he throws off his back foot. While Jones may be a little raw he has the potential to make a big splash in Happy Valley.

4. Dakota Royer (Manheim Central HS, Manheim,Pa) - While some project Royer at OLB in college, I see him staying at DE. He is tenacious off the edge and sheds blockers well. He plays controlled, fundamentally sound football,  while being explosive to the ball carrier. While Royer lacks prototypical DE size he can be used as a pass rush specialist while he adds good weight. See Aaron Maybin.

5. Cullen Christian(Penn Hills HS, Pittsburgh,Pa) Christian is a big, physical DB who doesn't get the ball thrown his way a whole lot. That's a good thing for a DB by the way. I would use two words to describe his play, raw and athletic.   Could be a corner or a safety at the next level.

6. Miles Dieffenbach (Fox Chapel HS, Pittsburgh, Pa) Dieffenbach has played every position on the OL in high school but projects at center or guard at the next level. There isn't allot of tape floating around on Miles but he has a knack at getting to the second level and locking up the line backers. A good versatile athlete for a big man.

7. Seth Betancourt (St. Joe's Prep, Philadelphia, Pa) Betancourt is a massive LT at 6'6" and close to 300 lbs. He destroys defenders at the line and has that nasty side that you like to see in a lineman. Boston College got a good one with Betancourt.

8. Corey Brown (Cardinal Ohara HS, Springfield, Pa) Brown is a running back from Ohara who missed last season with a knee injury. So far so good this year as Brown has been tearing it up on the field. When healthy Brown is a threat to take it to the house on every play. Brown will most likely line up as a slot receiver for Ohio State at the next level.

9.  Kyle Baublitz (Central York HS, York, Pa) Baublitz is a load for a high school athlete at 6'4" 255 lbs, what's even more impressive is that he plays MLB for his team. His physical style of play is something to see. Baublitz looks like a man amongst boys at this stage of the game. He will be putting his hand on the ground when he arrives in Happy Valley

10. Anthony Gonzalez (Liberty HS, Bethlehem, PA) Gonzalez is a dual the QB who was the 4A player of the year in 2008. Gonzalez threw and ran for over 1500 yards respectively while accounting for 36 TD's. A great athlete and and equally talented passer. Throws well on the run while keeping that accuracy. The kind of player that finds a way to win. Could be a safety at the college level.
